The pictures have no relevance to my blog post but they serve as a reminder that POPTART IS COMING, ONCE AGAIN!

I recently had a discussion about ADD, otherwise affectionately known as Attention Deficit Disorder with a friend. This friend accused me of being a victim of said disorder. Which got me thinking..

It is true that I have a remarkably bad memory. It’s tragic, really. To the extent that I can never remember deadlines or things I’ve been tasked to do and this reflects greatly in both my career and school. Brenda, my personal assistant, has to constantly remind me to reply emails and to go to meetings. I also get easily distracted by shiny objects and glitter.

All my life, I have adamantly credited my lack of memory to a sad, albeit morbidly funny incident that happened back when I was about 5 years old. I recall sitting in my grandma’s room with my cousins, watching the telly. My grandma had a bunk bed, and I was sitting on the lower bunk with my cousin, while my sister sat on the top bunk. I remember being completely transfixed by the cartoons on the telly, fascinated to the point that I didn’t hear my sister announce that she was gonna jump off the top bunk and to get out of her way. Nooooo. My little adolescent mind couldn’t handle multitasking at that time.

Sooooo, my sister, being the complete buffoon that she was, leaped off the top bunk and landed on me, pushing both of us to the ground and crashing my head against the tile. I laid there, stunned and in shock as how kids usually react to blind force trauma (picture this: a screaming kid runs around at top speed, smacks into a wall and is stunned into silence for a few seconds before bursting into tears). Yes, that was me. I laid there with my head spinning, in a confused daze.

I recalled my dad and mom running over, picking me up, cuddling me while screaming at my sister (ha-ha). My dad then proceeded to kick a chair out of anger and broke his toe in the process. It sounds funny now but trust me, there is NOTHING FUNNY about getting your skull smashed on cold hard tile.

Soooo. I’ve spent a good 18 years of my life blaming my sister and her thorough idiocy for my lack of memory thanks to brain damage. But with my friend’s proclamation of my possible ADD syndrome, I can no longer crucify my stupid sister.

I do remember falling down and banging my head around A LOT when I was younger though. Y’know kids.. They NEVER seem to be able to simply walk around. They HAVE to sprint like they’ve got crazy axe murderers chasing after them all the time. That was me. Hyperactive and thoroughly annoying.

Right now, I am sitting in my room positively dying of hunger but refusing to go downstairs to make some food in the kitchen cos I’m afraid of the dark. At 23 years old. Which is, coincidentally, another fault of my sister’s who told me back when I was a tiny speck of a child that ‘monsters exist’.

It is no wonder we have such an aggressive love-hate relationship.

Advertorial

Have you ever bought a skin care or beauty product and tried it out, only to discover that lo and behold, you absolutely hate it?

Well, that has happened to me one too many times. I’m guilty of impulse shopping and regretting after when I discover the products I bought on a whim don’t do me any good.

If you’ve found yourself in a similar situation, fret no longer!

Vanity Trove is a monthly subscription programme that delivers a box of mystery beauty products right to your doorstep. These beauty products are sample sized and come from a range of various brands, so you have the luxury of choice and variety, and the flexibility to try a wide array of different products to determine which works best for you before going out and purchasing the full size!

I personally love surprises, so imagine my delight when I received my Vanity Trove box in the mail, beautifully packaged and professionally presented! You’ve got to give them an A for effort - the trove box is sturdy and visually pleasing (I’m gonna store my cosmetics in it lolol). Here’s what my February trove box contained!

These Yada Skincare products are formulated in Korea and cater to adolescent skin types thus are suitable for teenagers and young adults like myself. All ingredients are organic and gentle so these products won’t irritate sensitive skin! What’s more, these Yadah products come in a cute little ziplock package with sketchy prints!

I’ve tried out the mask from Snail Street, and it’s a real refreshing treat after a long day of school or work. Enriched with vitamins and snail secretion (I know this sounds incredibly gross but amazingly enough, snail secretion actually has some pretty fascinating benefits I was previously woefully ignorant about until educated by the peeps at Vanity Trove), my skin felt bouncier and smoother after application. And as most of you should know, I have tragic skin. Tragic. So I’m currently on the look out for good skin care products.. And this goes on my list of things to purchase!

The whitening eye mask from Skin Inc is pretty good too - It’s supposed to repair and brighten the skin around your eyes and I’m assuming this will work great for most of us cos we’re all guilty of overworking and undersleeping.

I also received bars of soap from ‘You Filthy Thing!’ range of organic soaps enriched with natural ingredients that smell heavenly. No shit. I was greeted with wafts of sweet smelling goodness before I even opened my trove box! Yummy much.

And lookie! Baby sized OPI nail polishes from the Nicki Minaj collection! I personally don’t give a damn about Nicki Minaj and remain, till this day, purposefully ignorant of her music, but I do happen to love these polishes named after her. They’re so.. Blinged out and glittery. What’s not to love?

Also in my box was this pouch of shampoo and conditioner from ‘Feed Your Hair’ and these little bottles are filled with natural goodness once again and they smell fabulous (thus the picture of me sniffing it in a totally natural ‘caught-off-guard’ manner. Yes..) If Vanity Trove keeps stocking their troves with products of organic and natural ingredients, I’m gonna get too in touch with my earthy side and start chasing wildlife and going on camping trips.

There were a couple more lovely things in my trove box, but I’m not gonna show you everything cos where’s the mystery in that, right!? Go buy your own and discover the gloriously happy surprises they have in store for you right now!

And psssst! I heard from the owner himself that the March trove is packed with a host of fabulous items that are even better than the February trove! What an incredible incentive to purchase!

OH AND AND AND, I almost forgot.

Vanity Trove has very kindly sponsored 5 trove boxes specially for my Kisslocke shoppers! Simply be one of the top 5 spenders this month and you’ll receive a box stuffed full of lovely things. You’ll have the chance to experience, first hand, the awesomeness that I’ve been raving about for a good.. Half an hour. Which reminds me, I need to go whip up round 2 of supper before I die of hunger.

Collection 63 will be launched later at 10am at WWW.KISSLOCKE.NET so shop away! (:

GOODNIGHT ALL!

HELLO I'M BACK!

I know I’ve been completely elusive once again, but this time, I have a legit excuse! I’ve been working like an egyptian slave the past month - I haven’t been partying or having any fun at all. To top it all off, I’ve been sickly, enslaved by my non existent immunity system and a huge lump in my eye caused by my contact lenses. I’ve had to walk around with a huge red growth on my lower eyelid, looking hideously disfigured and ravaged by rabies and given a wide berth by passing strangers for the past 3 weeks. A passing kid burst into tears upon looking at my deformed eyelid a couple days back.

So.. The highlight of the past month has to be the exciting things that have been happening in relation to my webstore! My team and I decided that we wanted to spice things up and ventured into outdoor photography for our latest collection, and we had the opportunity to work with some of the sweetest and most professional models!

I swear, Agri, Ardini, Amelia (ooo, alliteration!) and Rebekah are the sweetest ever. They didn’t complain a single bit about trudging about in the hot sun (and the heat in Singapore is NO FUCKING JOKE), posing for hours on end and standing in heels. This being Kisslocke’s first outdoor shoot, we didn’t really know what to expect. Best part - the air conditioning in our car decided to break down at the most opportune moment, so we had to drive around with the windows down while positively sweltering. The minute we reached our shoot location and stepped out into the burning furnace (also affectionately known as the weather), I thought to myself.. This shit just got real. We were down for a long, long, long day.

BUT! All our efforts were worth it! I’m super pleased with the outcome. The pictures look glorious, if I say so myself. All apparel in this collection are designed and manufactured by Kisslocke, and boast of exceptional fabric quality and construction and best part - you won’t find them anywhere else. Talk about exclusivity! Launching later at 10am, 15th of March!

[I paused here to take a break for supper (I make mean instant noodles) and while cooking downstairs in my kitchen, I heard a ferocious cat fight going on outside and scampered upstairs like the faint hearted pussy I really am. Sad face.]

Soooo, I was going to continue talking about my month and write about the exciting things that have been happening but the latest Modern Family episode has finished streaming in the other window, so GOODBYE, shall continue another time. I cannot resist squealing at Lily’s cuteness. (for those in the loop, you’d know exactly how adorable she is)

I miss you so much. But I know it's all my fault for acting like a fucking child.

I know I haven't been around here much. Been drowning in a pile of never-ending work. Will be back soon-ish, after I've sorted out the mess that is called my working life.
